    5 Week Wheel Throwing Classes

    Learn how to make pottery from start to finish using the potter’s wheel! Our beginning classes are perfect for students with no clay experience and those getting back into clay after taking time off.

    In this class you’ll learn: wedging, throwing, trimming, and glazing.

    5 Week Handbuilding Classes

    Learn the fundamentals of ceramics without a wheel, focusing on core techniques like pinching, coiling, slab construction, joining methods, use of molds, surface decoration, and glazing to create functional or sculptural pieces.

    All levels welcome from complete beginners to advanced makers.

Appointment, Cancellation & Refund Policy

Shape Theory Studio is independently owned and operated by two working artists, and all classes, events, firings, and studio operations are managed by us directly. Because of our small team size and appointment-based structure, schedule changes, cancellations, and no-shows have a significant impact on how we operate. These policies help ensure we can continue offering thoughtful, high-quality experiences in a sustainable way.

Class Cancelations/Refund Policy: All classes public or private, Date nights, Happy Hours, Team Building & Private Events, Workshops, and Multi-Week Classes are non-refundable and may be subject to a 20% rescheduling fee. If you need to reschedule your appointment, a 72 hour notice is required and you are subject to one reschedule. Another option would be to send someone in your place. If doing so, please email us with the name change as soon as possible. We often hold specialty workshops, so rescheduling isn’t always a possibility. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will not be offered refund, credit, or be able reschedule. This includes illness, COVID, traffic, daycare, change of plans, etc.

Late Arrivals: Those arriving later than 10 minutes after the start time forfeit both their opportunity to reschedule and the lesson. Please understand all appointments take place in a class setting. By signing up for a class online, you are agreeing to our policy and our studio rules.

Pick-Up Window: Your piece will be ready for pickup 4-6 weeks after your visit. You will be notified via email when your piece is ready for pick-up. If you do not receive an email within 4-6 weeks, please check your spam folder before reaching out. Due to very limited storage space, pieces not collected within 30 days from when the pickup email is sent, your piece may be donated. No refunds will be issued for missed pick-ups, including missed emails or notifications landing in spam or alternate folders. If you cannot pick your piece up within the 30 day window, or no longer want it, please let us know.
