Shape Theory Studio offers convenient kiln rentals and firing services for both members and non-members. Whether you’re a home potter, ceramic artist, or hobbyist without access to a kiln, we’ve got you covered.
We fire bisque and glaze loads with flexible options so you only pay for the space you need.
Kiln Rental Pricing & Dimensions
Our electric kiln rentals are perfect for small batches, large projects, and everything in between.
Choose from full, half, or single-shelf firings:

1.25 cubic ft (9” x 19” x 6”)
Perfect for small-batch makers or test tiles.

3.5 cubic ft (22” x 22” x 12”)
Great for medium loads or multiple smaller projects.

7 cubic ft (22” x 22” x 25”)
Ideal for large batches or when you want full control over the firing temperature.
Important things to know - Please review before booking your kiln!
Bisque Firings
We bisque fire to Cone 06, the standard temperature for most clay bodies.
(If you rent a full kiln, you may request a custom firing schedule and bisque temperature)
Bisque Prep Requirement:
All work must be bone dry and ready to fire upon drop-off. We cannot accept wet or leather-hard pieces, as they risk cracking or damaging the kiln. If your work causes damage to our kiln or member/student work, an additional cleaning or replacement fee may apply.
Glaze Firings
We glaze fire at Cone 5/6, suitable for most mid-range clay bodies and studio glazes.
(If you rent a full kiln, you may request a custom firing schedule and glaze temperature - up to Cone 6)
Glaze Prep Requirement:
All glaze must be fully removed from the bottom of each piece before firing.
If glaze runs and damages our shelves, an additional cleaning or replacement fee may apply.
Kiln Firing Turnaround Times
When you book a kiln rental, the appointment time is for drop-off only. Firing does not happen during your appointment. Your pottery will be ready for pickup based on the estimated turnaround times below.When booking your kiln rental below, appointments are for dropping off work only.
These time frames help us batch firings efficiently and ensure the best results for your work.
Estimated Pickup Times
Full Kiln: Ready within up to 14 days
Half Kiln: Ready within up to 4 weeks
Single Shelf: Ready within up to 4 weeks
We will notify you via email or text message as soon as your firing is complete and your pieces are ready for pick-up.

Expedited Firings
